We are a group of six doctors who have approximately 8,000 patients on our list. We work alongside other health professionals and try to offer a first class care service. For the last few years we have been attempting to move from treating illness to preventing illness. In addition we feel it is important that we help you to manage as much of your illness as possible.

Morning and afternoon appointments for Monday to Friday can be booked 2 weeks in advance and are made available from 13:45 Mondays.  

Between them the nurses have completed many additional professional courses, for example cervical screening, the Asthma Diploma, COPD diploma and the Diabetic Diploma. They work very closely with the doctors and are trained to do an extensive range of procedures and tests.

You may see a nurse for such services as removal of stitches, cervical smears, wound dressing, ear syringing, injections, flu immunisations and foreign travel vaccinations.

Practice/Business Manager, responsible for the overall running of the practice including GPs, nurses, staff, budget and finances.

Leanne is the Reception Manager and is responsible for the day to day running of the main admin office and reception area.

We have a staff of eleven people who are trained to take essential information sensitively and sympathetically, while treating it with the utmost confidentiality.

Our staff are at the heart of the organisation and enable the doctors and nurses to see as many patients as possible during the working day.

The secretarial staff are responsible for typing NHS hospital referrals and can organise private referrals.

This specially trained professional provides personal care for all pregnant women before, during and after delivery. Patients in the Practice are cared for by the Fforest Team. Each patient has her own midwife during pregnancy and either she or a member of the team will come to the hospital and may deliver the baby. Patients can also discuss the option of home delivery with the midwife. The community midwife can be contacted on 07766 466891 (24/7).

District nurses are specially trained nurses. They work closely with the doctors and make home visits to house-bound patients to carry out assessments and provide nursing care. In addition they visit chronically sick patients and patients recently discharged from hospital who need further nursing care. A Chronic Conditions Nurse (Rachel Woolacott) and a Health Care Support Worker support patients at home by monitoring them and helping to educate them in the management of their condition.

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.

Mental Health Liason Nurse

A MHLN is in the surgery on Tuesdays and provides an assessment of needs and brief interventions for patients as well as being their link to the ABMU Health Board Mental Health teams, voluntary services and community organisations.
